2022 Scholarship Recipients

Ms. Alexandria Stone-2022 Scholarship Recipient


Ms. Alexandria Stone is the DPMFEE Scholarship Recipient. Alexandria graduated from Hoover High School with a 3.96 grade point average. She is currently enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) majoring in Performing Arts. Dr. Cordelia Anderson, professor of performing arts at Alabama State University, is serving as Alexandria’s mentor. One of Alexandria’s favorite quotes is from Bishop T.D. Jakes- “If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.” She is inspired by these amazing African American women: Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, Angela Bassett, Debbie Allen, and Viola Davis!

2022 Scholarship Recipient Finalists


Ms. Janna Calhoun -Jackson State University Janna wants to become a Social Media Manager for a professional sports team, and eventually a sportscaster for a major sports company. Although Janna knows that historically, this arena has been male-dominated, she is inspired from a quote from the late Shirley Chisholm, “If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”


Ms. DaJa’ Moore -Tennessee State University DaJa’ is currently majoring in dental hygiene. After graduation, DaJa' plans to work as a Pediatric Dental Hygienist. She also plans to attend dental school and eventually open up her own Pediatric Dental practice.


Ms. Kai Moore -Jackson State University Kai is currently majoring in computer engineering. It is Kai's belief that "the number of girls interested in STEM increases when they have female role models to inspire them and help them envision themselves in these roles."
